Beer of the Week: Founders All Day IPA

Today… I was *supposed* to get some level of freedom back. I’ve been singing: and Moms and Dads can hardly wait for school to start again… for 3 weeks now! YES, THREE! My youngest was very sick the last week of school… MOMMA.NEEDS.A.BEER! Alas, most of the midwest is stuck inside due to a bitter cold snow-day, so I’m doing my best to drink through embrace it.

During the last few weeks, much has happened… that I may or may not choose to discuss on here. However, one brilliant idea I thought of as I dealt with ill-timed sickness amidst the chaos was… hey, I’ve gotta do something new on the ‘ole blog in 2014. Doesn’t have to be life-changing, just something fun.

So here we go — a brand spanking new series, just for my fellow craft beer-loving readers.  I am going to kick off my beer-of-the-week series with one of my favorite local beers.

All-Day IPA

Founders All Day IPA.

Why did I choose Founders All Day IPA? Or “All-Day” as us locals call it?

Flavor is the #1 reason I adore craft beer. The flavors can not be found in a can of Bud Light!! I [very loosely] compare All Day IPA to Bud Light because it is a low-alcohol, low-calorie beer. The comparisons end there. As soon as you take your first and second taste (please, don’t ever judge a beer based on one taste, take two or three before you decide if you like it or not) your mouth is filled with flavors of pine and citrus. Founders All Day IPA isn’t just for hop-lovers like me. I know many people will scoff that it’s “too hoppy” if hops aren’t your thang. To each their own, but I highly recommend giving All-Day IPA a try if you’d like to open your mind to a lighter version of an IPA.

A cool bonus — Founders All Day IPA is now available in cans. Why is this so cool? Cans are better for the environment all around — it costs less to transport than bottles, they are easier to recycle as well. But for the beer lover, cans help keep elements like sunlight and even air out until you crack it open. As long as you keep your beer at the same temperature, canned beer can last a long time.

Founders All Day IPA is a staple in my fridge. It is one of my favorite go-to beers at the moment, perfect for tailgates, beaches, long nights of partying with friends, or for traveling across the state in your mini-van. Oh wait… don’t drink & drive, folks.

Where can you find your very own cans (or bottles) of Founders All-Day IPA? Check out Founders availability map here.

Next week, even though I could easily fill several years with Michigan beers, I’ll venture outside of my Great Lake State for something completely different. I know, crazy, huh?

If you have a suggestion for a beer I MUST try in the coming weeks, please email me: MommaNeedsABeer {at} gmail {dot} com with the subject Beer of the Week. If I choose to feature your beer, I will send you a MNAB magnet and mention you on here as well as facebook and twitter, if you’re into such things.
