Celebrate

Believe it or not, one year ago tomorrow, I started this blog.

What am I doing to celebrate? It’s such an exciting day, I’m having surgery! Anesthesia! Vicodin! Oh my! Don’t worry, I’ll be fine. I’m just having a growth removed from my foot. They are 99% certain the growth is not the Big C, but it’s been causing me some pain, so despite this mystery growth stumping both my doctor & the podiatrist gave me a lot of confidence, ya know? they are removing it and I will have to be off my feet for the next 2 weeks or so.

In case you are just joining us, breaking news: I have a 3 & 6 year-old to take care of.

I don’t think the hubs quite understands the depth of this me-being-off-my-feet-for-2-weeks thing yet. After I spent much of last week cooking up a storm of freezer meals, doing what I could to get the house organized & clean… it’s almost like I was nesting again. But it’s a good thing I did because the hubs spent the weekend working on his computer. Way to pitch in! Thing is, he won’t have much of a choice over the next couple of weeks. It’s times like these when your partner begins to realize all you do to keep a family running. I do have crutches, however, I am to use them to get to/from the bathroom, and then I need to rest my foot so it can heal as fast as possible.

The only other surgeries I’ve had to recover from were c-sections. And there was no way to weasel out of caring for a newborn on top of recovering when you’re nursing. Not that I would trade those days for the world! But, the hubs did have my feet and crutch-free arms & hands. This time, I will actually have the ability to recover… uninterrupted. Well, let’s be honest here. I highly doubt I’ll be uninterrupted with my 2 active kiddos, but still. I won’t have to nurse them! I have to stay off my feet for 2 weeks! I have no doubt it’ll be a challenge, but I’m taking it as it comes.

There’s much to look forward to though. As spring brings many new opportunities, this April I am taking on a music challenge with five other bloggers: Courtney Goes to WorkHave Stroller Will TravelRunning.With.Camera., The Weekend Photo Warrior and vanessa.oxygenvalve. Over the last year, I had many successes, but I have never written daily for a full month. However, writing about music is a dream come true. The posts are flowing out of my fingers like butta. Love it. But what I’m really looking forward to is getting back on my feet, 2-3 weeks from now, pain & growth free, so I can go for a walk with my family, seeing the budding trees blossoming… in my sandals.

Cheers, friends.

Wishing you a speedy surgery and an even speedier recovery. Oh and Happy Blogoversary too I can’t believe how fast the year has gone. Make sure those kiddos keep the kisses and hugs flowing while you recover.

Thinking of you lots. Can’t wait to read your posts in April!
