Ch-ch-ch-changes…

Yes, I realize I haven’t been posting as often as I usually do, but I am doing my best… and you deserve to know a few of the following tidbits…

  1. I’m doing a lot of work behind the scenes right now. A switch to WordPress should be happening any day. This won’t change much for you: my kick-ass readers, but it’s been a little more work than I thought. I’ve also been trying to keep up with my fellow writers, socializing via twitter, FB and commenting on other blogs when I can. Before I blogged, I never realized just how much work goes into a blog that you never see/read.
  2. I’m doing a lot of work on ME right now. Yes, writing has been an excellent form of therapy… but I recently decided that I need a deeper form of therapy at the moment. If you’ve been following me so far this year, you’ve probably noticed that I blew a bit of a funny-fuse due to recent events and I’m anxious to find humor in life again!
  3. You miss my posts & updates?
  • I am just an email away: mommaneedsabeer {at} gmail {dot} com. Ask me anything!
  • Subscribe to the RSS feed so you don’t miss a beat when I do start posting regularly again. I will not spam you. If I don’t post, you won’t get email from me. I am not a daily poster, but still plan to post 2-3 times/week once I get back into the swing of things. If you saw my most recent post about unsubscribing — that’s still way less email than Victoria’s Secret will send you. #thereIsaidit
  • A Winter Beer Fest recap is in the works. I know many of you are anxious to hear about the fun I had this past weekend and what my favorite brews and/or brewery were (it may surprise you — it surprised me!!!) Hoping to post by Thirsty Thursday!!
  • My very first Twitter party is also coming soon *bites nails* This is another excellent reason to subscribe via email. You won’t want to miss this!
While I’m on the topic of Twitter…
  • You can still find me on Twitter, Pinterest & FB even on days I don’t post.
  • You can also find me being a little more active… *gasp* away from my computer. Yup. I have no problem with people pinning or tweeting the day away, but I’ve learned that I, personally, have to set a timer, or I turn into a Momma-monster and the rest of my day is shot to hell. I’ve finally realized that I need moderation in all aspects of my life — not just when it comes to food.
    that being said…
    *DRUMROLL*
  • A face-to-face beer-lovers meet-up in Grand Rapids, Michigan is in the works this summer! Here we are, face to face, a couple of silver spoons… Oh sorry, do you have that tune in your head now too?! One of the many things I’ve been pulling my hair out over has been planning my now defunct Girls Like Beer Too party for BlogHer ’12. Waah-waaaaaaaaah. Our finances are in the shitter. I can not afford a trip to NYC right now, let alone the overhead costs of throwing a party there. I dream big. I may be able to swing Type A, but they have strict policies regarding parties outside of the conference venue. Thing is, the planning & connections I did produce over the last few months sparked the interest I was hoping for, just not the funds. I do believe if I kept things local, it could happen. This party would ideally be open to all beer lovers, not just bloggers… Stay tuned!
  • I know that many of these changes will help make me a better person overall, and my blog a much more fun and enjoyable place for all of you. Thanks for being the supportive & generally awesome audience you are… Cheers to you, friends!!!

Thanks, Jocelyn!! I’ll definitely keep you in the loop. Thanks again for all of those amazing contacts from NYC.

Let me know how the switch to Word Press goes…and if I really need to do it. {I cringe thinking about it}. Good Luck!!

Thanks, Suzanne! The hubs is a software developer, so it wasn’t too difficult for him to merge most of my stuff over (including comments — which I really worried about losing!) There are just a few minor tweeks that need to happen before it officially goes live and I say so long to Blogger. It’s always something, isn’t it?!

Very excited to hear more about numbers 5 and 8 🙂 I have always been on WordPress so I don’t know any different – ask me anything you have questions about. I guess in the 5 or so years I might have learned something, or at least know where to find the answer.

Thanks so much, Jen!!! I’ll definitely keep you in mind when I have some WP questions. I’m so close to the switch… generally excited about the SEO plug-ins that Blogger lacks. And I’ll be sending you an email soon about the beer party! Thinking July or August for that…
