A song I wish I’d hear on the radio: Wilt, Blind Melon.
All I can say is that my life is pretty plain… Oh wait, wrong song. How many times did we hear No Rain on the radio in the 90s? Way too much. I can appreciate and even enjoy singing along with the popular ditty now, but it was one of those songs that almost turned Blind Melon into a one-hit wonder way back when. Other than Change, which isn’t even that well-known in comparison to No Rain, Blind Melon is a band that doesn’t get the credit I feel they deserve.
This brings me to today’s song, from Blind Melon’s most underrated album, Soup. Ever hear of it? It’s a really incredible album, from start to finish. The unique instrumentals, the harmonic vocals… it’s an upbeat rock album I love listening to in the summer especially. Something about Shannon Hoon’s voice goes very well with the smell of the warm summer-air. Just hearing this album makes me want to mix up a vodka-lemonade.
If you haven’t heard it before, I highly recommend downloading Soup today. Because your local radio station won’t be playing much off of this album anytime soon.
