Happy Labor Day, friends.
Usually this time of year, I am SO ready for my kids to go back to school, football, pumpkin spice anything, apple orchards, cozy sweatshirts, brightly colored leaves, etc. Autumn is my favorite time of year! But I’ve just survived one of the busiest summers of my life since the summer of 1998, when the hubs graduated from Michigan State
, we got married and moved away from Michigan to Tucson, AZ. Saying goodbye to this
particular summer is a little more bittersweet than past summers; I’m lit from within recalling all the events I had the joy of experiencing since Memorial Day.
I know many of you read some of my summer adventures and thought we were completely insane. The Summer of 2011 was indeed jam-packed, but could go on record as one of the best summers of my life.
I enjoyed just about every single moment I’ve had this summer.
I put my needs first, and said yes when opportunities came my way,
but still embraced the moments I had with my kids and everyone else.
I let my kids go a little more,
I let myself go a little more.
I did more with the hubs away from the kids than I have in awhile,
and we embraced our own relationship on a deeper level.
I toasted my time with friends I hadn’t seen in years…
Spent time in 8 cities in 3 different states
Bay City, East Lansing, Manistee, Ann Arbor, San Diego, Salt Lake City, West Olive, Onekama
and still did plenty in our own town of Grand Rapids.
But enough talk… pictures speak volumes, so I will lead you through a slideshow of sorts.
The girls at Meijer Gardens
Crashing a wedding…
The kitten we found in our backyard… our sitter gave “Izzy” a great home.
Running into fellow Atomic Object pals at Founders (of course!)
Did the Kids Bowl
Free program this summer. Very fun!
Sedona went to the dentist for the first time!
Spending time with my cousin at our family cottage on Lake Michigan…
My three favorite people…
I wore a swimsuit more this summer than in the last 10 summers combined.
Invest in a suit you love, friends. It makes a world of difference!
Hanging with old church/high school friends at the Hopcat.
My pal Arynne & I at the Amos Lee concert.
We took the kids horseback riding for the first time.
I helped with prep for a good friend’s baby shower.
More fun at the beach!
Meeting Wendi McLendon-Covey & seeing my former high-school alum, Alissa from Have Stroller
at BlogHer in San Diego were definite highlights of the summer for this Momma.
After BlogHer in San Diego, the hubs was a speaker at a conference in Salt Lake City.
Happy couple on vacation…
This is how I feel about the Summer of 2011.
If I could give it a big fat hug, I would.
