I don’t know if you’ve realized this, but I have written every day so far this month. I am participating in NaBloPoMo — which means I am embracing the challenge of writing daily for the month of June.
Unless you’re new here, you’ve probably noticed that I don’t tend to write daily for a multitude of reasons; #1 = I just don’t have the time! I honestly don’t know how some bloggers post daily, consistently, week after week and stay on top of everything else in their busy lives.
The other big reason I don’t publish daily is because I don’t ever want to feel forced to write anything. I would worry that my writing would suffer. On the other hand, it could spark a new drive within me to start writing more often.
Last year, I did participate in daily writing throughout the month of April
, but it was 30 days of music-prompts. And, I was on bed-rest after a foot surgery to remove a nerve-tumor. I planned for it several weeks in advance, scheduled most of my posts, and really enjoyed having the topic of music to write about for the full month.
This month… I decided on June 2nd that I would do NaBloPoMo for the month of June. Oh yeah. The neurotic aspect of myself simply imploded. My insanity = validated.
But I wanted a challenge.
I wanted to see if I could actually do it.
I don’t ever want to keep doing the same thing day in & day out. Motherhood is rarely monotonous like that… but I’m sure you follow.
I try to embrace every moment in my daily life. But, I don’t like to settle. I always want more. More for me, more for my family, more for my humble little blog… maybe I expect too much.
Let’s face it, my biggest critics = me, myself & I.
Therefore, I have decided that, for whatever reason, if I do fail at posting daily this month, I refuse to beat myself up over it. Because I am doing all of this just to challenge myself. Not to prove anything to anyone else.
Maybe I’ll follow the prompts… maybe I won’t.
Maybe NaBloPoMo will inspire me to start compiling that book I’ve always wanted to write… then again, it could just as easily scare me away with my tail between my legs. Either way, I’m up for the challenge.
Are you participating in NaBloPoMo this month? Have you ever done NaBloPoMo before?
