Life is a Special Occasion

** Please note — this Giveaway has ended. **

Special occasions come in many different sizes, don’t they? From Happy Hour to the first day of school, life gives us many opportunities to celebrate.

I had the pleasure of visiting the Hallmark booth at BlogHer last month. I created a “special occasion” shirt and my picture was taken for a mosaic on their website. I chatted with some of the awesome people working that day. The people were, honestly, quite a bit like Hallmark products: bright & cheerful, smart and funny. When I returned home and caught up with the countless emails, one that caught my eye was a personal follow-up from Justin at Hallmark. We corresponded a bit, and he sent me the following:

Hallmark’s Back- to-School Confidence Care Package

  • Hallmark’s Kids Collection three-card pack. Features topics for young kids, including nerves about school and positive reinforcement for hard work, as well as topics for tweens/teens, such as peer pressure and choosing friends wisely.
  • Lunchbox Notes. 50 ways to add a little love to lunchtime.
  • Recordable Storybook. Allows you to record your voice and your little ones can read along with you even if you’re far away.
I was so excited to receive this… since Natalie started 1st grade last week, I’ve been able to use the Lunchbox notes. I started hand-writing little notes for her lunches last year, but I only had to do it twice/week because she only went to school full-days Monday & Friday. This year, I’m grateful to have some notes on hand I don’t have to compose myself. Each note is unique; many of them are confidence boosters, others are just simply sweet. Today’s note told her I was hugging her heart. I look forward to the occasion to use one of the cards I was sent as well. Those were also very sweet and one is even a “color & return” card. I know my little artist will enjoy that.

What I really loved though, was the Recordable Storybook. At first, I thought about reading/recording it for our kids… but they hear us read all.the.time. I considered sending it to one of their Grandparents to record it and send it back… then… I was struck with brilliance. Natalie loves to read, why not have her record her voice, then send it to the Grandparent of her choice. Natalie was so excited to be able to record herself reading. When she heard herself back, she beamed with pride — and on certain pages, she asked to re-record herself. She is still wrapping her brain around how to read sentences aloud. Pausing for periods and whatnot, but this really helped emphasize how to read certain sentences with energy and inflection. By the last page, you can tell how much Natalie enjoyed reading the book. I’m looking forward to hearing the reaction from Gram when she receives this heartfelt gift.

Guess what? I’m giving away the Hallmark Back-to-School Confidence Care Package to one of you lucky folks! Simply fill in the following form and you’ll be ready to go. There is a bonus entry option too — check the confirmation for details!
