VlogMom: Favorite Christmas Song

Tis the season for Christmas Music!! I usually start listening to Christmas music the first day the snow falls. If that happens in October (which does happen when you live in the snow-belt of Michigan!) so be it. I know some of you have strict rules about not listening to Christmas music until after Thanksgiving… but I’m a rebel.

So today’s VlogMom prompt from Erin Lane of A Parenting Production is perfect. She asked the group what our favorite holiday song is (bonus points if you sing it!) and if there’s any story behind it.

I have a slew of favorite Christmas songs: It’s Beginning To Look A Lot Like Christmas, Sleigh Ride, the many variations of Jingle Bells…  but my favorite to sing has to be The Christmas Song. There’s just something magical about the words, the phrasing… it makes me want to curl up under a blanket by the fire and take turns staring at the fire, the Christmas Tree and my love.

Guess what? I’m singing The Christmas Song for you acapella today…  I’m not Nat King Cole or Ella Fitzgerald. I just hope I stay in key!

Merry Christmas Cheers to you & yours!

Good job Kelli!! You have a beautiful voice, but then you always did. I love that song too. 🙂

Awww, thanks, Chrissy. I don’t know what it is about that song, but as soon as I hear the word “Chestnuts…” my heart melts.

Your voice has gotten even prettier than our RH days, I think : )

Thanks, Kel!! Hard to believe RH was half a lifetime ago. I never stopped singing…. even if my only audience was my windshield for a few years. HA!

Such a pretty voice! Thanks for joining in!

Thanks, Erin!! We should attempt to organize a Vlog-Choir one of these days… there is an excellent range of voices in this group!

You did so great! That’s one of my favorites too.

Love it! That’s one of my favs, too.

Great job and kudos for the Christmas tree placement. I haven’t put up a tree in forever because we travel for Christmas 🙁

    • Posted November 30, 2012 at 5:27 pm | Permalink

Thanks, Joyce. We went without a tree a year or two when we were in Tucson because we’d always travel to MI (and let’s face it, a real tree wouldn’t make it in AZ anyhow!) Now we have a fake one we can put up & take down whenever we feel like it. And yes, that may mean that it might stay up until mid-January. HA!

We are a talented group. Present company excepted 😉 Apparently this is a popular choice! I love that you’re right in front of the tree. We don’t have one yet. Saturday. I hope. And is that a dinosaur ornament I see near the top?

Thanks, Michelle!! And no, it’s not a dinosaur — but I can understand why you would think that! It’s a giraffe from my oldest’s John Lennon-themed mobile.

I absolutely LOVE your voice! I really want to come and watch you perform sometime for sure.
