It is back-to-school time!
This week’s VlogMom prompt comes from Joyce Brewer from Mommy Talk Show.
Let’s be honest here, I got a little choked up talking about my favorite teacher.
Mrs Hughes was such a positive influence in my life.
She is the reason I am the person I am today.
She not only taught me how to use my voice properly,
but how to laugh at myself,
how to find the humor even through craptastic moments,
the importance of leadership, and so much more.
In the select ensemble my senior year,
she partnered me up with another Kelli so we could be folder partners.
We clicked instantly & are still super close today.
I am grateful for my years in Mrs Hughes’ classroom.
Who was your favorite teacher? Comment below or on my YouTube channel!
Please bare with the poor quality… hoping to look a little less washed out on the next vlog. Challenge of my week has been sending one child back to school without the other. So, I’ve been a 4-year old’s full-time playmate all week. Next week — both kids will be in school all 5 days. WOOHOO!

Wow. I could see the emotion when you were talking about her. Have you ever tried to track her down? I think it would be so important to have a chance to really tell these teachers how much they’ve impacted our lives.
And P.S. I really love your hair 🙂
Thanks, Fadra! Mrs Hughes is a fairly private person, but I am friends with her husband on FB. I ran into her at a funeral last year. I was singing & saw her in the balcony from my soloist-podium. Talk about pressure to hit every note! But seeing her also gave me butterflies… like I was in the presence of a celebrity. I tracked her down like a stalker as soon as the closing song ended. She had her son with her, and I could not believe he was 17 years old. I remembered when she was pregnant with him; I babysat him until around age 2! I have written her letters over the years, filling her in on my life, always thanking her for the positive influence she had on me.
Isn’t it amazing to keep up with your teachers?
I enjoy being able to see Mr. Anderson (my favorite teacher) on Facebook.
He’s friends with so many of my classmates!
I am that teacher. 🙂 I hope as “my kids” grow up they will keep in contact as they have done so far. Beautiful tribute sister.
YES! I’m sure they will, Lisa. I’m sure you are like a celebrity to them!
